There are a ton of different options available when it comes to tracking your keywords in Google search results.
I haven’t used all of them. I tried a few, then found Pro Rank Tracker.
This is what I see at the top of my daily ranking report email.
How I Use ProRank Tracker
I’ve probably used PRT for about 5 years now. I use this software to monitor the keyword rankings of my own websites and also my client’s website’s
I’ve got ProRank Tracker set up to send me an email everyday. This daily email shows me all the rankings fluctuations in Google.
I treat Google rankings like a stock price. You don’t want to obsess over every little movement up and down. That will drive you crazy. A lot of folks make this mistake.
I give every new client this lecture, because they get these daily reports of their website’s rankings.
What I do is everyday I open up the email and quickly glance at the numbers. My email shows me all the sites I own or am working on with clients.
What I’m basically looking at is trends over time. Google rankings, even when you are doing SEO correctly, bounce around. If they are going in the upward direction, like you want them to, you’ll see a series of higher highs, and higher lows in rankings, in general, over time.
I might also notice that a particular keyword has a big drop in ranking. I don’t worry about a single big drop, but if a site has been ranking well, then experiences a big drop, then stays down for an extended period of time, then I will investigate to see what’s going on.

Endlessly Configurable Ways to Track Your Keyword Rankings
As you can see in the image above, you can select keywords and configure them in a graph a see how they look over a certain period of time.
There are ton of different ways you can configure the data inside PRT.
If you do choose to purchase PRT (it’d be nice if you purchased through my affiliate link at the bottom of this page), then I highly recommend you watch a bunch of the informational “How To” videos that ProRank Tracker has on their YouTube channel.
There are so many ways to configure your data inside of PRT, that even though I’ve been using this software for so darn long, I still have to watch the YouTube videos to learn how to use the different tools, and different views.
I basically just set it and forget it with PRT.
I add the domain of the website I want to track, and I add the keywords, and then I add that do my daily reports, and that’s about it.
I used the standard basic setup. This is what the basic setup looks like:
This is not a client, this is an example. You can track any domain you want in PRT.
You can configure this to show your which search engine, the day, week, monthly rankings, and the search volume for each keyword.
Like I said, this software is endlessly configurable.
It’s easy to get bogged down and waste a bunch of time with a software these days, the same is true with ProRank Tracker. I use a basic setup as you see above and then just leave it alone.
Keyword Rank Tracking Reporting for Your Clients
The image you see above of the Pearl White Media example, is a screenshot of what the report looks like that you can send to your clients. Inside PRT, there is a way to white label the reports and add your company’s logo to them. That is what I do.
The only difference between the way the reports go out to clients, and the reports I see, are that my clients only see the keyword tracking for their website, and it’s white labeled with my company’s logo.
My personal report shows the data for all my clients and all my personal websites. So it looks the same, it’s just much bigger.
I wanted to make a video showing you how to use PRT, but I couldn’t figure out how to do it, without showing you all my client sites and my sites, and I can’t do that, so I’ve only provided a few screen shots in the post.
What Keywords Should You Track in PRT?
You can track any keywords you want. If you know what you want to go after, you can track that by just entering the keywords in to the tracker.
But, if you want some help figuring out what keywords to track, or if you want to see what your website already ranks for, you can use the tool in PRT called Rankings Discovery. It’s helpful because you might be ranking decent for a keyword that you didn’t realize you rank for, then you can go an better optimize that page to get more traffic.
Truth be told, there are a ton of options and tools inside PRT and I just don’t use most of them.
I track keywords and I send reports to clients and that’s it. So I can’t even tell you how good or how to use the other tools. I use PRT for the main ability to track keyword rankings and to send daily reports and it does a great job of that.

Of course you are wondering how much ProRank Tracker costs, so I went and got this screenshot for you.
And now I feel like an idiot.
I bought this thing at least 5 years ago and I pay monthly for it. It’s automatic. No big deal because I like the tool and I need it for my business.
But now I see that there is an option to pay for the whole year and save 10%. I had no idea because I haven’t looked at the pricing since I first signed up years ago. I’m trying not to think about how much extra I’ve paid over the years by not knowing I could pay for the whole year.
Ok, moving on sorry for that rant.
Anyway, if you want to sign up for a Free Trial, you can. The Free Trial only give you a limited number of URL’s and keywords to track, but it’s still good to see if you want to use the software.
I never signed up for the Free Trial because my buddy recommended this to me so I signed up for the Basic Plan. Now I’m on the Standard and apparently I like to pay extra by paying the monthly instead of yearly. Doh!
